A Gift of Newsham
~ Monday 12 October 2026 ~
Christmas gifting, the Newsham way. From cosy cottage stays and weekends in Thirsk to seasonal dining, Yorkshire spirits and thoughtful wedding gifts, we've gathered a few ideas for giving something lovely to look forward to.

A Gift of Newsham
For those who are tricky to buy for, we've a few ideas.
Christmas shopping has a habit of creeping up on us. One minute we're enjoying the last of the autumn sunshine, the next we're wondering what on earth to buy everyone.
So, this year, we thought we'd share a few things from Newsham that might make the job a bit easier.
And the best part? Most of them come with something lovely to look forward to.

A Night or Two Away
Is there anything more exciting than to have a few days away planned in the diary, especially once the Christmas decorations have come down.
At 35 Kirkgate, in the heart of Thirsk, there's a whole market town to explore from the doorstep. Independent shops, cafés, galleries and plenty of good places to eat, all within a short stroll.
Or perhaps a stay in the Yorkshire countryside is more their thing.
There's Woodhill Grange, with its wood-burning stoves and plenty of room for family and friends or Gardener's Cottage with a private hot tub in the pretty English country garden, providing a particularly good reason to stay put.
A weekend with no particular plans. Sometimes that's the best gift of all.

A Place at the Table
We do love a good excuse to get everyone together for a meal.
Throughout the year, James and the Peckish team put on seasonal tables, supper clubs and evenings celebrating the food and drink we love.
There's Steak & Chips Night, Pie Club, our seasonal dining events and the occasional evening with friends from the Yorkshire food and drink world.
For someone who enjoys good food and a full glass, a ticket to one of our events is a lovely thing to find under the Christmas tree.

Something for the Drinks Cabinet
Our friends at Cooper King Distillery created a few special bottles for Thirsk Lodge Barns, all made here in Yorkshire.
There's our Dry Gin, Single Malt Yorkshire Whisky, Black Cardamom Vodka and Berry & Basil Gin Liqueur. These have become a favourite behind the Bar, particularly in our seasonal cocktails.
Four Yorkshire spirits, each with a character of its own. A lovely gift for someone who enjoys a good drink, or an excuse to stock up the drinks cabinet for Christmas.
A Wedding Gift Worth Giving
And for those with a wedding on the horizon, there's another way to give something meaningful.
A contribution towards their wedding at Thirsk Lodge Barns can help with the celebrations they're planning, from the wedding breakfast to the day itself.
Something for the happy couple to enjoy when the big day finally arrives.
Something to Look Forward To
A weekend away, a good meal, a bottle of Yorkshire gin or a contribution towards a wedding.
We think there's something especially lovely about giving a gift that becomes a day out, a gathering or a memory to look back on.
And if it means we get to welcome a few more familiar faces to Newsham in the coming year, all the better.
