Bramble City: A Yorkshire Take on a New York Sour
Blackberries, a good measure of Yorkshire gin and a bit of shaking behind the Bar.
There's been a fair amount of blackberry business behind the Bar at Thirsk Lodge Barns recently.
Our Bramble City is one of our seasonal favourites. A nod to the classic New York Sour, with a Yorkshire twist thanks to our friends at Cooper King Distillery.
It starts with their Berry & Basil Gin Liqueur, created especially for Thirsk Lodge Barns. In goes Aperol, blackberry shrub syrup from Bristol Syrup Company and a squeeze of fresh lemon. A few drops of foaming bitters, a good shake and it's ready for the glass.
The result is a lovely balance of sharp citrus, rich blackberry and a hint of basil, finished with a soft, frothy top.
A fine way to welcome the colder months, with all the rich flavours of autumn in a glass and a good excuse to linger at the Bar a little longer.
And, as with most things here at Newsham, we think it's best enjoyed in good company.
We've been filming a few moments behind the Bar, so you can see exactly how our Bramble City comes together.
