Introducing Newsham

To many people, Newsham Road is simply a quiet stretch of countryside road running between Thirsk and Northallerton. But to our family, it means something far greater. Running directly through the heart of our land, it connects every part of our world - from the farm and wedding venue to our hospitality ventures in town - ultimately becoming the inspiration behind the Newsham name itself.
Bringing Our World Together Under One Name
For generations, Newsham Road has quietly shaped the rhythm of our daily lives.
It runs directly through the centre of our farm, connecting the places, people and businesses that make up our world. Whether we are heading to Thirsk Lodge Barns to welcome couples for a wedding weekend, travelling into town to 35 Kirkgate, checking in on the farm, or working on exciting future projects like Manor Farm, we find ourselves travelling the same road every single day.
Over time, we realised something important.
Although our ventures had grown independently, they were all rooted in the same values, the same land and the same way of doing things. We needed a name that could bring everything together while still honouring where it all began.
Newsham felt like the most natural choice.
Not simply because of the road itself, but because of what it represents - connection, continuity and shared purpose.
Where roots run deep.
When we first discussed the concept, my husband and business partner, Will, described the road as the ‘vein’ running through the centre of the farm. In his version, the wedding venue was the heart, the farm was the lungs and the hotel somehow became the hypothalamus.
While I appreciated the enthusiasm, I found myself leaning towards a slightly less anatomical metaphor!
To me, Newsham feels much more like the trunk of a tree.
The road forms the solid centre, while our agricultural and hospitality ventures become the branches and roots stretching outward - all connected, all nourished by the very same soil.
For almost 400 years, our family has farmed the land surrounding Newsham Road. As we continue evolving - encompassing the farm, Thirsk Lodge Barns, 35 Kirkgate, The Peckish Kitchen and future ventures still to come like Manor Farm - our goal remains the same: to create something meaningful, lasting and deeply rooted in place.
